SELLING ANTIQUES AND OTHER ITEMS

Auctions are a wise choice for selling unwanted goods. The principal reason is to achieve the highest possible market price.
There are many guide prices available but there is no fixed price for an antique. Good publicity, international advertising and competitive bidding in a properly organised Auction Room often result in prices exceeding pre-sale estimates and guide prices. This is not possible with a private sale.
A commission is payable, but by being a percentage of the sale price, it remains in the Auctioneer’s as well as the Vendor’s interest to try and achieve the highest possible price.

AUCTION SALES

Ward & Chowen hold fortnightly sales of antiques, household furnishings and effects. These sales provide an excellent opportunity to sell antique furniture, paintings, silver, jewellery, ceramics, toys and militaria including medals, stamps, coins and miscellaneous items.
Catalogues are available from the Auction Rooms or on the Ward & Chowen web site shortly before each sale.

VALUATIONS

These are undertaken for probate, family division, insurance and litigation purposes.
